Ghanaian midfielder Edmund Addo recently shared his sentiments regarding his absence from the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. Addo, who plays for FK Radnicki, expressed his disappointment at not being included in the national squad for the prestigious tournament.
While Ghana participated in the AFCON 2023, Addo was notably absent from the squad selection. Speaking about this missed opportunity, the midfielder conveyed his regret, emphasizing that it was disappointing for him not to be part of such a significant event.
Despite his personal disappointment, Addo expressed happiness for his teammates who had the opportunity to compete in the tournament.
“Not playing in the Africa Cup of Nations was a bit disappointing for me because almost every player would like to play in the Nations Cup, World Cup, Champions League, etc.
But everything is fine. I was happy for my colleagues who succeeded. I overwhelmingly supported them,” Addo stated.
However, Addo recently returned to the fold during the international break, rejoining the Black Stars.
Reflecting on his feelings about representing his country once again, Addo expressed immense joy and pride in donning the national colors and representing his homeland.
“Honestly, my joy is not coming back to the Black Stars, but rather wearing the national colors and representing my homeland has always been amazing and emotional for me,” he remarked in an interview with GHANAsoccernet.
Despite his absence from the AFCON 2023, Addo played a vital role in Ghana’s recent international matches against Nigeria and Uganda, highlighting his commitment to representing his country whenever called upon.
As Addo continues his football journey, he remains determined to make significant contributions to Ghana’s national team in the future, aspiring to participate in prestigious tournaments and showcase his talent on the international stage.
