Ghanaian midfielder Baba Alhassan earns Uganda Cranes AFCON call up
Ghanaian-born midfielder Baba Alhassan has earned a proud place in the Uganda Cranes’ final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, marking a major milestone in his career.
The dynamic midfielder, who features for FCSB in Romania, will be part of Paul Put’s team as Uganda returns to the continent’s biggest football showpiece.
Alhassan began his football story at African Talent Football Academy in Ghana, where he honed the skills and discipline that now define his game. In 2019, his potential took him to Europe, joining Real Valladolid’s U-19 side in Spain, a move that exposed him to higher levels of competition and tactical education.
Now at FCSB, one of Romania’s most renowned clubs, Alhassan brings control, energy and balance to the Uganda Cranes midfield, lining up alongside Kenneth Semakula, Khalid Aucho, Ronald Ssekiganda and Bobosi Byaruhanga. With Uganda set for an 11-day pre-AFCON camp in Casablanca, including two friendly matches, he will be eager to impress and cement his place in the starting lineup when the tournament kicks off in Morocco.
