Jeffrey Schlupp has officially signed a one-year contract with Norwich City, bringing his wealth of Premier League experience to Carrow Road as the club prepares for the upcoming Championship campaign.
The Ghana international, who was available on a free transfer following his departure from Crystal Palace, will wear the number 27 shirt for the Canaries this season.
The 32-year-old arrives in Norfolk with a decorated footballing résumé, having spent over a decade competing at the highest level in English football.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Schlupp began his professional career at Leicester City, where he rose through the ranks of the club’s academy before establishing himself as a regular in the first team.
During his time with the Foxes, he made over 150 appearances and played a pivotal role in their historic Premier League title-winning season in 2015–16.
Following his success at Leicester, Schlupp moved to Crystal Palace in January 2017, where he became a dependable presence over eight seasons at Selhurst Park.
His versatility allowed him to operate across multiple positions—left-back, midfield, and wing—making him an invaluable asset to a series of managers.
Last season, he spent a brief loan spell with Scottish giants Celtic, where he added another league title to his honours list.
Speaking after his signing, Schlupp expressed enthusiasm for his new chapter in the Championship. “This is a fresh adventure, but I have high expectations for this return to the Championship with a big club,” he said. “I spoke with the head coach about the project for this season, and I’m delighted to be part of it.
I’m looking forward to meeting all the players and hopefully building something special this year.”
Norwich City sporting director Ben Knapper hailed the acquisition as a key move for the club as it targets promotion. “Jeffrey’s career speaks for itself, and we are delighted to welcome him and his family to Norwich City,” Knapper said. “He is a highly experienced player, having competed at the top level for both club and country.
His quality, versatility, and character will be real assets for us. He’s also an excellent role model for our younger players. Jeffrey will bring competition and depth in several positions, and we are very pleased to have him with us this season.”
Schlupp’s arrival is expected to add depth and maturity to a Norwich side that is rebuilding under the current technical setup. His ability to slot into multiple roles across defence and midfield will give the team added flexibility as it navigates the rigours of a long Championship season.
Moreover, his presence in the dressing room is likely to offer valuable leadership, especially for younger players looking to make their mark.
As Norwich City gears up for another push toward promotion, Schlupp’s signing underscores a clear strategy: blend experience with ambition. With his proven pedigree and championship-winning background, the Ghanaian international is poised to make a meaningful impact at Carrow Road.
