Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has declared himself nearly ready for a full return to action, as the Ghanaian international nears the end of his recovery from a serious knee injury that sidelined him for months.
The Leicester City winger has not featured since March, when he suffered a major anterior cruciate ligament injury during Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.
The setback halted what had been an impressive start to his Premier League campaign, including a standout assist on the opening weekend against Tottenham Hotspur.
Now, with the Foxes preparing for life in the Championship following relegation, Issahaku has shared positive news about his rehabilitation and expressed his eagerness to contribute to the club’s push for promotion.
“I worked very hard. My rehabilitation went very well thanks to the team, the physio, the management, and the players. Everyone was very supportive,” he told the club’s media. “I’ll be ready before preseason.”
The 20-year-old’s commitment to returning stronger is evident. His time away from the pitch has done little to dampen his enthusiasm or ambition.
“I can’t wait to be back on the pitch, running again, fighting for the badge like always,” he added.
Before his injury, Issahaku had quickly made a name for himself in England’s top flight.
His flair, speed, and technical ability made him one of the most exciting young talents to watch, with statistics placing him among the league’s top five dribblers at the time of his injury.
Though his season was prematurely cut short, his performances had already earned praise from fans and pundits alike.
Now, with Leicester City’s focus firmly set on bouncing back to the Premier League, Issahaku’s return could prove pivotal.
Leicester, who narrowly missed out on survival, are rebuilding for a promotion campaign in the 2025–26 season.
The club will be counting on the return of key players like Issahaku to inject quality and energy into the squad.
With his recovery progressing ahead of schedule and his sights set firmly on the new season, the Foxes can look forward to the return of a player who embodies both promise and passion.
