Prince Obeng Ampem came off the bench to score a decisive winner as Eyupspor recorded their first victory of the 2025/26 Turkish Super Lig season with a 2-1 triumph over Alanyaspor on Monday evening.
The Ghanaian forward was introduced in the 59th minute with the match delicately poised, and within 16 minutes he made his mark, finishing calmly in the 75th minute to restore Eyupspor’s lead and spark celebrations at the Eyup Stadium.
The home side, desperate to respond after back-to-back defeats in their opening fixtures, made the perfect start.
Slovenian midfielder Svit Seslar struck just seconds into the contest, giving Eyupspor an early advantage and lifting the pressure on the team.
Despite dominating possession and carving out further chances in the first half, the Purple-Yellows were unable to extend their lead.
Their profligacy allowed Alanyaspor a way back, and the visitors grew in confidence after the interval.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 67th minute when their Kosovan striker found the equaliser, silencing the home support and threatening to prolong Eyupspor’s disappointing start to the campaign.
However, the introduction of Ampem proved decisive.
Replacing Serdar Gürler shortly before the hour mark, the 27-year-old injected pace and energy into the attack.
His moment arrived midway through the half when he timed his run to perfection and slotted past the goalkeeper to put Eyupspor back in front.
That goal ultimately sealed all three points, ending Eyupspor’s losing streak and lifting morale within the squad as they prepare for their next league outing against Istanbul Basaksehir.
For Ampem, the strike was not only his first of the season but also a timely reminder of his value to the side.
The former Ghana U23 international, who has often been used as an impact substitute, will now be pushing for a place in the starting line-up after his match-winning display.
Coming on and helping the team win is always special, Ampem said after the game. The focus now is to keep working hard and build on this momentum.
Eyupspor’s victory offered a glimpse of resilience after a difficult start, with the blend of early aggression and late decisiveness securing a much-needed result.
As the season unfolds, the club will hope this breakthrough marks the turning point in their push for consistency, while Ampem’s performance may well prove a catalyst for his own resurgence in Turkish football.
