Ghanaian forward Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini was the hero for Royal Union SG as they clinched a 1-0 victory over FC Twente on Thursday night in the Europa League.
The young striker found the back of the net in a tense away match as his Belgian side faced FC Twente in the fifth round of the competition.
Despite playing on foreign soil, Royal Union SG looked strong early on. They initially thought they had taken the lead when Franjo Ivanovic scored just seven minutes into the game.
However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR review confirmed the striker was offside.
Undeterred, Mohammed Fuseini quickly responded just four minutes later. The Ghanaian forward found the equaliser after receiving an assist from Ousseynou Niang, and this time, the goal stood.
It proved to be the only goal of the match, as Royal Union SG held on for the narrow victory.
With this win, Royal Union SG now sits 24th in the Europa League standings, keeping their hopes alive for progression to the next stage of the competition.
