Swiss-born Ghanaian striker Kwadwo Duah shone as Ludogorets Razgrad salvaged a 2-2 draw against AZ Alkmaar in their final Europa League Group Stage clash at Huvepharma Arena.
AZ dominated the early proceedings, racing to a 2-0 lead within 19 minutes. Ruben van Bommel opened the scoring with a precise header, and Seiya Maikuma doubled the advantage with a thunderous left-footed strike. Ludogorets struggled to find rhythm in the first half but turned the tide after the break.
Ivaylo Chochev sparked the comeback in the 60th minute, nodding in Erick Marcus’ pinpoint cross. Just three minutes later, Kwadwo Duah delivered the equalizer. Rising high to meet Marcus’ curling set-piece delivery, Kwadwo Duah’s powerful header left the AZ keeper rooted.
Kwadwo Duah’s physical presence and relentless pressing kept AZ’s defense on edge throughout his 77 minutes on the pitch. Ludogorets’ resilience ensured they finished with pride, holding 50% possession against the Dutch giants.
The draw places Ludogorets 31st on the Europa League table, shifting their focus to domestic action as they face CSKA 1948 in the Bulgarian Cup on December 16th.
