Galatasaray are targeting Ghanaian striker Inaki Williams as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen, whose departure at the end of the season now appears inevitable.

The Turkish Super League leaders have reportedly identified the Athletic Bilbao forward as their top option once Osimhen’s loan spell concludes, according to reports from Fichajes Espana.

Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, has been instrumental for Galatasaray throughout the 2024–25 campaign, delivering an outstanding return of 30 goals and seven assists in just 35 appearances across all competitions.

However, the Nigerian international is expected to seek new opportunities following his prolific season in Istanbul, leaving Galatasaray keen to secure a forward capable of maintaining their attacking threat.

Inaki Williams, whose consistent performances in La Liga have not gone unnoticed, has emerged as a strong candidate to fill the void.

Williams, 29, showcased his scoring prowess once again on Wednesday, netting the decisive goal in Athletic Bilbao’s 1-0 win over Las Palmas.

His early strike in the 11th minute proved enough to secure all three points and earned him man of the match recognition.

It was the Ghanaian’s 11th goal of the season, complementing his nine assists across 46 appearances in all competitions — underlining his reputation as one of La Liga’s most reliable performers.

Known for his blistering pace, versatility, and tireless work rate, Williams has long been a key figure for Bilbao, amassing a remarkable number of consecutive appearances in Spain’s top flight.

His ability to operate across the front line makes him an attractive proposition for Galatasaray, who are determined to build on their domestic dominance by reinforcing their squad with proven quality.

While the club has yet to formally open negotiations, initial assessments suggest that Williams would fit seamlessly into Galatasaray’s dynamic system.

His experience at the highest level, coupled with a strong record of both scoring and creating goals, presents him as a player capable of easing the transition following Osimhen’s exit.

Osimhen’s impact at Galatasaray has been nothing short of transformative. The Nigerian’s arrival elevated the team’s attacking standards, helping them reclaim their place at the summit of Turkish football.

His expected departure will undoubtedly leave a significant gap, but club officials believe that Williams possesses the attributes needed to keep their ambitions on track, both domestically and in European competitions.

For Williams, a move to Galatasaray would represent an intriguing new chapter in a career largely spent at Athletic Bilbao, where he has become a fan favourite.

It would also offer him the chance to compete for major silverware and play a leading role in a club determined to make a mark on the continental stage.

As the season draws to a close, Galatasaray’s attention will increasingly turn to shaping their squad for the challenges ahead.

With Inaki Williams firmly in their sights, the Turkish champions appear ready to act swiftly to secure their next star forward.
