Ghanaian football is in shock following the tragic death of Berekum Chelsea striker Dominic Frimpong, who was killed during a violent armed robbery attack on the team’s bus on Sunday, April 12.

The 20-year-old, who is on loan from Aduana FC, lost his life after the incident occurred while the team was returning to Berekum following their Matchday 29 Ghana Premier League clash against FC Samartex at DUN’s Park, a match Chelsea lost 1-0.

According to reports, armed men attacked the bus along the journey, prompting panic among players and officials.

A gunshot was reportedly fired, forcing members of the team to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bushes in an attempt to escape the assault.

Frimpong sustained a severe head injury during the chaos and was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead upon arrival.

The devastating news has triggered an outpouring of grief across Ghana’s football community, with several clubs and stakeholders taking to social media to mourn the young forward.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for the attackers behind the assault on the Berekum Chelsea team bus at Ahyiresu.
