Lyon midfielder Noah Nartey has been called up to the Danish national team for the first time, joining his brother Nikolas in the senior squad.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder will be part of Denmark’s squad as they host North Macedonia on 26 March at 20:45 CET.

Olympique Lyonnais confirmed the selection on Wednesday, highlighting the significance of the call-up.

“Our midfielder has been called up to the Danish national team for the first time by Jon Dahl Tomasson.

This is an important call-up, as the Danes will be playing their playoff matches to try and qualify for the World Cup,” the club said in a statement.

Nartey has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Lyon, appearing in 10 matches across all competitions, including seven Ligue 1 games, and scoring two league goals.

His performances have drawn the attention of Denmark’s national team coach, Jon Dahl Tomasson, who sees potential in the young midfielder for the upcoming international fixtures.

The call-up adds a family dimension to Denmark’s squad, with Noah joining his older brother Nikolas, who has previously represented the country.

The Nartey brothers’ presence strengthens Denmark’s midfield options ahead of crucial playoff matches that could secure a place at the World Cup.

For Nartey, the selection represents a milestone in his career, reflecting his development at Lyon and recognition at the international level.

The midfielder will aim to make an impact in Denmark’s decisive games and continue his progression on the global stage.

Denmark’s clash with North Macedonia will be a key step in their World Cup qualification journey, and the inclusion of young talents like Nartey underscores the team’s ambition to blend experience with emerging players.
