Ghanaian clubs condemn acts of violence during Nsoatreman FC v Asante Kotoko clash

Ghana Premier League clubs have condemned the violent acts that occurred during the game between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko on Sunday, 2nd February.

The two teams faced off on matchday 19 of the top flight at the Nana Koromansah II Stadium in the Matchday 19 games.

Unfortunate scenes unfolded during the game, leading to a brawl between players and staff from both teams.

The incident also saw clashes between fans of the two clubs, resulting in the tragic death of a Kotoko Supporters’ Communications Member identified as Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

In response to the incident, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely suspended Nsoatreman FC’s home stadium and paused the Ghana Premier League as investigations continue.

Additionally, Nsoatreman FC’s owner, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, along with two others, have been arrested in connection with the violence.
