Ghana international Thomas Partey has returned to training at Al Shabab after recovering from an injury setback, providing a timely boost for the Black Stars ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The former Atletico Madrid and Arsenal star picked up a knock while in action for the Saudi Pro League outfit, ruling him out of the club’s last two matches and raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming international break.

Partey’s injury came at an important time for Ghana, with the Black Stars gearing up for crucial fixtures against Ivory Coast and The Gambia as they begin their campaign in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.

However, his return to training at Al Shabab comes as a huge boost for the West African football heavyweights, with his fitness set to be closely monitored ahead of the international break.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz will be hoping the experienced midfielder can regain full match fitness and make himself available for selection as Ghana prepares for the important qualifying assignments.

The 33-year-old remains an experienced figure within the Black Stars setup and has played a key role for the national team over the years. His presence in midfield provides Ghana with experience, composure and strength in possession.

Partey will now work towards regaining his full fitness and rhythm before the international break, with the technical team expected to assess his condition before making a final decision on his involvement.

Ghana will be aiming to make a strong start to the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign and secure positive results in their upcoming fixtures as they seek to book their place at the continental showpiece.
