Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago set for Unity Cup battle in London

Four national teams—Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago—will converge in London in May 2025 to compete for the prestigious Unity Cup.

The tournament, branded as The Best in the West – The Afro Classico Contest, promises an exciting showcase of football with two highly anticipated regional derbies in the semi-final stage.

The competition will kick off on Tuesday, May 27, with Trinidad & Tobago’s Soca Warriors facing Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz in what will be the first-ever TriniJam clash on UK soil.

The match is expected to ignite fierce rivalry between the two Caribbean nations as they battle for supremacy in the West Indies.

On Wednesday, May 28, West African giants Nigeria and Ghana will lock horns in the second semi-final.

The clash between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars will once again reignite their long-standing football rivalry, with both teams aiming to assert their dominance on the continental stage.

The tournament will conclude on Saturday, May 31, with a double-header. The losing semi-finalists will compete for third place before the final showdown determines which nation lifts the Unity Cup 2025.

Having won the title twice before, Nigeria may enter as the favorites due to their superior FIFA ranking and recent performances.

However, history suggests that form can be deceptive when facing Ghana, especially in London, where the Black Stars famously humbled the Super Eagles with a commanding 4-1 victory in a previous encounter.

Jamaica will also have extra motivation heading into the tournament, having suffered a narrow defeat in a previous edition. The Reggae Boyz will be eager to overturn past results and stake their claim for the trophy.
