Ghana midfielder, Thomas Partey delivered a standout performance on Wednesday night, providing an assist in Arsenal’s commanding 2-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League.
Despite concerns over his fitness ahead of the match, Partey started in midfield and played the full 90 minutes, playing a crucial role in Arsenal’s victory at the Emirates Stadium.
His composed and authoritative display was highlighted by his assist for William Saliba’s decisive second goal.
Both teams came out with intensity, but the first half ended goalless, despite several chances at both ends.
The breakthrough came early in the second half when Declan Rice delivered a precise corner, which Jurrien Timber converted at the near post. Arsenal then had a scare in the 67th minute when United almost equalised, but goalkeeper David Raya made a brilliant save to deny Matthijs de Ligt’s header.
Arsenal capitalised shortly after, once again from a dead-ball situation. Bukayo Saka swung in a corner that found Partey at the far post, and his header perfectly set up Saliba, who ensured the ball crossed the line to double the Gunners’ lead.
This victory extended Arsenal’s unbeaten home streak to 13 matches across all competitions and narrowed the gap to league leaders Liverpool to just seven points.
Thomas Partey’s all-around performance once again proved his importance to Mikel Arteta’s side.
