AFCON 2015: Ghana to Miss Kwadwo Asamoah Due to Injury
Ghana has suffered a major setback ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, as key player Kwadwo Asamoah has been officially ruled out of the tournament.
The Juventus fullback and midfielder is set to undergo surgery on the cartilage in his left knee, ruling him out for approximately three months. The news was confirmed by Juve head coach Massimiliano Allegri during a press conference on Saturday.
Asamoah has been out of action since November 4, and with his expected return not until the end of February, he will miss the entire AFCON, a significant loss for the Black Stars, who were counting on his experience and versatility.
This injury blow forces Ghana to rethink their strategy ahead of the continental showdown, as they’ll be without one of their most consistent and experienced players.
