Ghana football legend Malik Jabir has urged Otto Addo to resign following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite six matches in the qualification campaign, Ghana ended at the bottom of Group F with just three points, failing to secure a single win.
This marks the first time in two decades that the Black Stars will miss out on the prestigious tournament, set to be held in Morocco next year.
Jabir, a former coach of Asante Kotoko, believes Addo should step down to protect his reputation after the team’s disappointing performance.
In an interview with Angel FM, he said, “Coach Otto Addo should tender in his resignation letter just to save his image because he is not the right man for the job.”
The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, November 27, to discuss Addo’s future as head coach.
Looking ahead, the Black Stars will turn their focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will resume in March 2025 with matches against Chad and Madagascar.
