Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan smoke peace pipe with Osimhen over fake injury remarks
Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has denied accusing Nigeria star Victor Osimhen of feigning injury during the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
Osimhen, who secured a permanent move to the Turkish giants in the summer window sent a worrying signal to fans, leaving the pitch in the 35th minute due to an injury setback.
The former Napoli star was subsequently ruled out of Nigeria crucial clash against South Africa, which ended 1-1 last Tuesday.
Gyan, who is the all-time topscorer for the Black Stars was said to have criticized Osimhen of feigning injury in an attempt to exit Nigeria camp for club football: “Go to Africa, play a bit, then act injured”
However, the former Sunderland forward has denied such reports in the media, urging the public to treat it with the needed contempt it deserves.
According to the 39-year-old, the reports are fabricated as he didn’t grant any recent interviews regarding Nigeria.
“Fabricated quotes attributed to me about Victor Osimhen has gone viral on social media. It’s important to set the record straight: I never granted any interview about Nigeria. The last AFCON game v Cameroon was the last time I spoke about Osimhen’s talent. Don’t spread FAKE news” Gyan wrote on his official X account, formally known as Twitter.
Meanwhile, Gyan has disclosed smoking a peace pipe with the highly-rated Galatasaray forward.
“I had a great chat with my brother Osimhen on the phone earlier today. Once again, I wish you a full and speedy recovery”
