Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has expressed hope that the ongoing captaincy dispute within the Black Stars will be resolved, emphasising the importance of unity for the team’s future success.
Appiah, who led Ghana to the 2014 World Cup, remains an influential figure in the country’s football landscape. In a recent interview, he highlighted the significance of addressing the captaincy situation to foster team cohesion.
“I hope the reports that they are looking to resolve the captaincy issue are true. If there are other issues, I also hope they will be sorted out.
However, as I am no longer with the team, I do not know all the details,” Appiah stated.
The captaincy of the Black Stars has been a recurring source of tension, often creating divisions among players.
Appiah stressed that resolving these internal matters is crucial for maintaining harmony within the squad.
“Once the captaincy issue is resolved, everything will be fine,” he added. “Unity is key because without unity, no success is possible.”
Ghana is currently preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with hopes of securing a spot in the tournament.
Appiah’s call for unity comes as the team seeks to strengthen its position on the international stage.
The Black Stars will be looking to build momentum in their upcoming fixtures, with a united front seen as essential to achieving their goals.
