Kwessi Appiah has been confirmed to stay on as coach of the Ghana Black Stars despite the team’s disappointing exit in the first round of the 2014 World Cup. The Ghana Football Association has publicly backed him, emphasizing stability over reactionary changes following the tournament.
Appiah faced challenges during the World Cup, including internal conflicts that led to suspensions of key players Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng, but the GFA president, Kwessi Nyantekyie, urged fans to remain calm and give the coach time to rebuild.
Appiah will now lead Ghana through the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers starting next September, continuing his tenure that began in April 2012.
