Patrick Kluivert Withdraws from Ghana Coaching Race, Bernd Schuster Added to Shortlist
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that Patrick Kluivert has withdrawn his candidacy for the national team coaching job. The former Dutch international, previously among five shortlisted candidates, declined the offer in a recent interview, prompting his removal from the list.
German coach Bernd Schuster has now been added to the shortlist. He joins Michel Pont (Switzerland), Marco Tardelli (Italy), Avram Grant (Israel), and Juan Ignacio Jiménez (Spain) in the running for the prestigious role.
According to the GFA’s schedule:
Interviews for Pont and Tardelli are set for October 17.
Grant and Jiménez will be interviewed on October 18.
Schuster’s interview date has not yet been confirmed.
The GFA also noted that Ricardo Gareca remains on standby as a backup candidate in case any of the current contenders withdraw.
