Ghana Black Queens held by Tanzania in final WAFCON 2026 warm-up

Ghana’s Black Queens concluded their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a goalless draw against Tanzania in an international friendly.

The result capped the Black Queens’ pre-tournament programme as they fine-tuned their preparations ahead of the continental showpiece, which begins on 25 July.

Having opened their warm-up schedule with a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast, Ghana remained unbeaten in their two friendly matches before heading into the tournament.

Final test before WAFCON

The friendly against Tanzania gave the Black Queens’ technical team another opportunity to assess the squad, build match fitness and strengthen team chemistry before the start of the competition.

Although neither side found the breakthrough, the match provided valuable minutes for the players as Ghana continued to sharpen their preparations for the challenges ahead.

The two warm-up fixtures allowed the coaching staff to evaluate the team’s readiness and make final adjustments before naming the squad for the tournament.

Attention turns to Group D

Ghana will now shift their focus to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they have been drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Cape Verde and Mali.

The Black Queens head into the tournament on the back of a positive preparation campaign, having recorded a win against Ivory Coast and a draw with Tanzania.

The 2026 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will run from 25 July to 16 August, with Ghana aiming to make a strong impression as they seek continental success.
