Gyan Asamoah Aims for More Goals and Success in the Coming Year
Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan is setting his sights on an even more prolific year ahead after an impressive season with Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates. Recently voted Asia’s Foreign Player of the Year, the Black Stars captain was instrumental in Al Ain’s strong finish to the year, scoring 12 goals in the Asian Champions League, helping the club reach the semi-finals of the competition.
“I know what I can do and I keep working,” Gyan told reporters while back in Ghana for a holiday.
“I have scored eight goals so far, some thought I couldn’t do it because I had problems. Next year, I will come back even stronger.”
Gyan, formerly of Stade Rennais in France, is also focused on the collective effort of his team and is optimistic about their potential success in the upcoming season:
“By the end of February, everyone will be in excellent condition. It’s not going to be easy next year, but I think we’ll get our full squad back, and that’s the most important thing. I’m praying for the players’ health. When we have a fit team, we can win the league.”
With his leadership and scoring instinct, Gyan will be a key figure for both Al Ain and the Ghana national team in the year ahead.
