Mohammed Kudus reflects on the deep honour of wearing Ghana’s Black Stars shirt

Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has underlined his commitment to the national team as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

Speaking after Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, the 25-year-old stressed how much it means to represent his country.

“I think playing for your country is also a massive part of us being players, representing your nation. So, it’s very, very important to me,” Kudus said.

The former West Ham United star joined Tottenham Hotspur this summer and has quickly impressed in the early weeks of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

His performances earned him a place in Otto Addo’s 24-man squad for the September international break.

Kudus is expected to play a crucial role when the Black Stars face Chad on September 4 and Mali on September 8.

Victories in both fixtures would secure Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
