Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United in a deal valued at £55 million, spread over three years.
The Premier League club announced the transfer on Thursday evening, confirming that the 24-year-old had passed his medical earlier in the day. Kudus has agreed to a long-term contract and will wear the number 20 shirt for Spurs, pending a work permit.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, subject to work permit,” read an official statement from the club.
Kudus arrives at Tottenham with high expectations after a standout debut season at West Ham, where his explosive performances made him one of the most sought-after talents in English football.
Born in Nima, Accra, Kudus began his football journey with Strong Tower FC before joining the Right to Dream Academy in 2012. His professional career took off when he moved to Danish side FC Nordsjælland in 2018.
After 57 senior appearances and 14 goals, he secured a move to Dutch giants Ajax in July 2020.
At Ajax, Kudus quickly made his mark. He registered four goal involvements in his first three appearances and helped the club clinch both the Eredivisie title and KNVB Cup in his debut season.
Over three seasons, he featured in 87 matches, scoring 27 goals. The 2022/23 campaign was particularly prolific, with Kudus netting 18 times, including four in the UEFA Champions League.
Kudus made the move to West Ham in 2023, and after just two seasons, he now joins Tottenham in a high-profile switch.
He will be expected to play a key role for his new club under new manager Thomas Frank.
