Ghana forward Inaki Williams meets new Athletic Bilbao boss Edin Terzic ahead of new season

Edin Terzić officially launched his tenure as new Athletic Bilbao head coach on Monday morning by meeting club captain Iñaki Williams at the Lezama training facility.

The highly anticipated introductory session marked the formal start of the German manager’s first pre-season campaign in Spain, following his recent appointment on a lucrative two-year contract succeeding long-standing boss Ernesto Valverde.

Williams reported to the complex to complete mandatory pre-season medical evaluations before starting his scheduled summer vacation.

The experienced forward, who recently concluded international duties with Ghana, held an important tactical briefing with Terzić to discuss team leadership, dressing room dynamics, and the attacking football expectations for the upcoming grueling La Liga league campaign.

Terzić commenced on-field preparations with an expanded 30-man first-team roster. The former Borussia Dortmund manager must navigate the critical initial phases of this summer pre-season training block without several key first-team players.

Goalkeeper Unai Simón, winger Nico Williams, and veteran defender Aymeric Laporte remain completely absent due to extended rest periods following their recent grueling World Cup commitments.

The remaining squad will transition to intense double training sessions on Wednesday morning to quickly adapt to Terzić’s trademark high-intensity football philosophy.

Athletic Bilbao officially opens their competitive domestic season on August 16 against Barcelona, forcing Terzić to immediately integrate his tactical ideas while simultaneously managing squad selection before the summer transfer window officially closes down for good this year.
