Football is set to return to Ghana next month following the election of a new Executive Committee at the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The federation announced on Thursday that the national competitions, including the Premier League, Division One, and the women’s league, will resume on December 21st.
The 2019–2020 season is scheduled to conclude in July 2020. At the GFA’s elective General Assembly last October, the Congress approved an expansion of the top division, increasing the number of clubs in the Premier League to 18. This move aims to enhance competition and provide more opportunities for clubs across the country.
In addition to the league resumption, an ordinary Congress of the federation is scheduled for December 12th. Over the past few days, the GFA has also been unveiling the various committees that will oversee and manage the operations of local football, laying the groundwork for a more structured and transparent administration.
With the new leadership in place, Ghanaian football is preparing to return to action, bringing excitement back to clubs, players, and fans after a period of uncertainty. The upcoming restart marks a fresh chapter for the domestic leagues and the continued development of football in the country.
