Former Ghana League Clubs Association chairman Alhaji Raji has urged Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku to unite the country’s football administrators to improve the fortunes of the Black Stars, especially in their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.
Ghana is currently in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, sitting second with 9 points, just behind Comoros, with upcoming matches against Chad on March 17, 2025, and Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
Raji emphasized that the unity of experienced football administrators, such as George Afriyie and Wilfred Osei Kwaku, could be key to Ghana’s success.
He suggested that the division among football officials since Okraku became GFA president in 2019 must be resolved to boost the national team’s chances.
Following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where they failed to win a single game, Raji expressed optimism that unity could lead to a positive change.
“Our qualification to the World Cup is doable, depending on how the FA president will receive this message. Because he knows I’ve been silently talking to him on this issue, you see, and I’ve talked to some of those close to him on this issue,” Raji told Accra-based Asempa FM.
“It’s very, very important. It’s very important. Sometimes unity breaks bounds. You’d be surprised that after you’ve gotten outside united, the performance of the Black Stars could turn into another positive thing.
“I know what our football administrators can do.”
