Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has expressed confidence in Otto Addo’s ability to guide the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite recent challenges.
Addo’s team currently sits joint-top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers, with nine points alongside Comoros, keeping Ghana’s hopes alive for a second consecutive World Cup appearance following their 2022 success in Qatar.
However, Addo’s tenure has been marred by disappointment in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification, where the Black Stars failed to secure a spot for the 2025 tournament.
Despite these setbacks, Sarfo remains unwavering in his support of the coach, emphasizing that Addo has shown positive results in the World Cup qualifiers.
“Otto Addo is doing two things. The World Cup qualifiers that we just spoke about—his team is sitting in a good position. He is on the verge of qualifying but has failed in the AFCON qualification,” Sarfo told Accra-based Asempa FM.
“What shows that he is not doing a good job?”
Ghana will take on Chad and Madagascar in their next two World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
