Ghana drawn with Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo in WAFU B U-17 qualifiers

Ghana’s Black Starlets have been drawn in Group A alongside Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo for the WAFU B U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The regional qualifying tournament, which serves as a pathway to the continental championship, will take place in September, with group-stage matches scheduled across three matchdays on 15-16, 18-19 and 21-22 September.

The draw places Ghana in a competitive four-team group featuring former regional champions Burkina Faso, as well as familiar West African rivals Benin and Togo.

In Group B, Côte d’Ivoire will face Niger and Nigeria in a three-team section.

The Black Starlets will be aiming to secure one of the qualification spots on offer as they seek a return to the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana has a rich history at youth level, having won the African U-17 title twice and lifted the FIFA U-17 World Cup on two occasions, but the team has endured mixed fortunes in recent qualifying campaigns.

The tournament is expected to provide another opportunity for the country’s emerging talents to stake their claim on the international stage before progressing to the continental finals.

The full fixtures for the group stage are expected to be confirmed by WAFU B ahead of the opening round of matches later this month.
