Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu trains with AS Monaco ahead of Stade Rennais clash
Ghana international Mohammed Salisu is expected to be fit in time for AS Monaco’s next French Ligue 1 encounter against Stade Rennais FC.
The 26-year-old was released early from international duty after the Ghana Football Association confirmed he had suffered a bilateral medial collateral ligament sprain in his knee, raising initial concern for the French club.
The injury was examined by both the Black Stars medical team and Monaco’s staff before he was sent back to the Principality.
However, the setback appears less serious than first feared, with L’Équipe reporting that Salisu joined first-team training on Tuesday.
His recovery comes at an important time for Monaco, who are dealing with fresh injury worries for Eric Dier and ongoing rehabilitation for Christian Mawissa.
Salisu’s expected availability for the weekend clash offers a timely boost for Sébastien Pocognoli’s defensive setup.
Meanwhile, France midfielder Paul Pogba is also in line to make his long-awaited debut for AS Monaco in the upcoming match against Stade Rennais FC.
