Ghana defender Jonas Adjetey is aiming to make his mark in the UEFA Champions League next season with Swiss champions FC Basel.
The 21-year-old played a crucial role in Basel’s resurgence, helping the club secure their first Swiss Super League title in seven years, along with the domestic cup to complete a historic double.
These victories marked the first major honours of Adjetey’s professional career.
After a limited role in the previous season, where he started just 11 league matches, Adjetey became a key figure in the 2024/25 campaign, making 32 appearances in the league and cementing his place in the starting lineup.
With the league title win, FC Basel have booked a place in the play-off round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League — a decisive step toward reaching the tournament’s elite group stage.
“For me, it’s a great honour to play in the Champions League. We will play a play-off. I just pray we get the win, and then we can fit in (group phase),” he told Flashscore.
“But for me to play in the Champions League is a very great honour. I always watch the Champions League,” he added.
