Ghana international Ebenezer Annan has completed a move to French outfit Saint Etienne in the current transfer window following a standout performance last term for Red Star Belgrade.
Annan, one of the left-backs for the Black Stars signed a long-term contract, keeping him at the club until summer 2028.
The 22-year-old joins from Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade and is set to wear the number 19 shirt.
Born in Accra, Annan began his football journey on the Atlantic coast before moving to Italy as a teenager. He developed through Bologna FC’s youth system and made his Serie A debut in January 2022 at just 19, having already featured in the Coppa Italia.
In search of regular football, Annan joined Imolese on loan in the Italian third tier, making 28 appearances in the 2022/23 season. His next move took him to Serbia, where he featured 32 times for FK Novi Pazar, earning a permanent deal in early 2024. A strong first half of the season—19 appearances—caught the eye of Red Star Belgrade, who signed him during the winter window.
At Red Star, Annan made 19 appearances, playing a key role as the club clinched both the Serbian SuperLiga and the national cup. His performances also earned him a call-up to the Ghana national team in 2024.
“I am very happy to sign for AS Saint-Étienne,” Annan said. “The club is building a good team, a great staff, and has enormous support from its fans. It is an honour to join this club. I will give my all in every match to help the team achieve its goals.”
ASSE coach Eirik Horneland welcomed the arrival, saying, “Ebenezer is a powerful left-back who plays with a lot of volume. He has experience in pressure matches and international football. We can’t wait to start working with him.”
