Chris Hughton, the coach of the Ghana national team, affirmed his commitment to securing a victory with his players just one day before their highly anticipated match against the Egyptian national team.
The encounter is part of the second round of group-stage matches in the Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Côte d’Ivoire in 2023.
Ghana suffered a defeat against Cape Verde with a scoreline of 2-1, while the Egyptian national team drew 2-2 against Mozambique.
Speaking during the press conference, Chris Hughton stated, “We have all committed to achieving victory against the Egyptian national team to make up for the previous loss.
We need to forget what happened in the opening round and improve, rectifying the mistakes.”
He continued, “We must be at our best against the historic champion of the tournament, Egypt. We are looking forward to that match.
I appreciate everyone who has sent us messages of support despite the recent loss. Conversely, I understand the frustration and concern of the fans.”
Concluding his remarks, Hughton said, “We will face a competitor with a significant history in this tournament.
Now we have a task to evaluate the mistakes we made against Cape Verde, and we need to be at our best against the strong Egyptian national team.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 PM Cairo time and 11:00 PM Mecca time.
The clash promises to be a thrilling encounter between two footballing powerhouses in the African Cup of Nations.
