Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has turned his focus to the bigger picture, as Ghana prepares to face South Africa in the third-place playoff at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking ahead of Friday night’s encounter, the coach emphasised the importance of ending the tournament on a high note while setting sights on the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
“The journey to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil starts now, and finishing strongly is a pivotal statement,” Bjorkegren told the Ghana FA’s official website.
The Black Queens will take on the Banyana Banyana at 7 PM in what promises to be a competitive showdown. Beyond the bronze medal, the game represents a key moment in building momentum for Ghana’s long-term goals.
Coach Bjorkegren also expressed belief in the team’s potential to win the WAFCON title in the near future.
“If you consistently place in the top four, you will eventually win the tournament,” he added.
Ghana will be aiming to cap off a solid campaign by securing third place as they begin the road to Brazil 2027 with renewed ambition.
