Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz stays silent on 2026 World Cup approach

Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has chosen to remain tight-lipped over his tactical plans as preparations begin for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The veteran gaffer replaces Otto Addo for the global showpiece following a disappointing run of results in recent international friendlies against Austria and Germany.

Speaking at his unveiling at the Alisa Hotel, the Portuguese tactician admitted that while he is already working on building a competitive system, he will not reveal details of his approach.

“The guys from Panama national football team are listening to our conference, so I’m not going to say much about our approach,” he said.

The experienced coach brings a wealth of pedigree, having previously worked with top clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United, as well as managing national teams including Portugal national football team and Iran national football team.

His World Cup credentials are equally impressive. Queiroz guided the South Africa national football team to qualification for the 2002 tournament, led Portugal to the Round of 16 in 2010, and managed Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions.

He has also held coaching roles with the Egypt national football team, Japan national football team, Qatar national football team, and Oman national football team.

With preparations already underway, Queiroz is expected to quickly settle into his role as he begins shaping a competitive squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Ghana will open their campaign against the Panama national football team on June 17 in Toronto, before facing the England national football team and the Croatia national football team in a challenging group stage.
