Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Jordan Ayew is upbeat ahead of the upcoming games against Chad and Madagascar.
The England-based striker is part of the Black Stars squad assembled for the two games in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to BBC Sport Africa in an interview, Jordan Ayew noted that the Black Stars are hoping to use the two games to turn around recent bad form.
“As professional players, [we] need to have the mentality and strength to stand up for the challenge.
“Hopefully, from these two games, we can show a good image of ourselves and turn things around,” Jordan Ayew said.
The Black Stars in recent years have lost their status as a giant in African football.
In 2024, the Ghana national team’s decline reached its highest point when the Black Stars finished the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament without a single win.
Ghana will hence not feature at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco later this year.
