Asamoah Gyan Escapes Boating Tragedy as Musician Castro Feared Dead
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has reportedly escaped unharmed following a serious boating accident on Lake Volta on Sunday. The incident occurred during a post-World Cup holiday with friends, just days after Gyan’s return from Brazil.
According to Ghanaian radio station Citi FM (97.3), Gyan and around 30 friends were enjoying a jet ski outing on the Volta River when the accident occurred. The group had opted for jet skis after the footballer’s regular yacht was unavailable.
Tragically, Ghanaian musician and close friend of Gyan, Castro, is feared dead following the mishap. Local reports suggest he drowned alongside a female companion after their jet ski capsized. Efforts by rescue teams to recover their bodies have so far proved unsuccessful.
Asamoah Gyan, who plays for Al Ain in the UAE and captained the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup, is said to be devastated by the loss. He had developed a close friendship with Castro, who frequently collaborated with Gyan on music projects.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
