Ghana and South Africa have confirmed their starting line-ups ahead of their highly anticipated third-place match at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The fixture, set to kick off at 7:00 PM GMT on Friday evening, will be held at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, with both sides determined to end their campaigns on a high after falling short in the semi-finals.
Ghana, led by head coach Nora Häuptle, will line up with Cynthia Konlan in goal.
The defence features Susan Duah and Comfort Yeboah on the flanks, while Grace Asantewaa and Kusi Alice are tasked with anchoring the midfield.
Jennifer Cudjoe and Portia Boakye bring experience to the middle of the park, with Doris Boaduwaa and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah providing firepower up front.
Stella Nyamekye and Josephine Bonsu complete the starting XI.
South Africa, who were runners-up in the previous edition of the tournament, have also named a strong line-up as they seek redemption.
Banyana Banyana’s coach, Desiree Ellis, has stuck with several familiar faces, signalling her intent to claim the bronze medal.
The clash is expected to be a tightly contested affair, with both nations looking to cap their tournament runs with victory.
Ghana’s physicality and pace will face off against the tactical discipline and fluid attacking transitions of South Africa, who are aiming to restore pride after their semi-final disappointment.
This marks the second time the two nations meet at this year’s competition, adding a layer of familiarity and rivalry to the encounter.
With pride, rankings, and momentum for future competitions at stake, both sets of players will be eager to impress in Casablanca.
