2026 WCQ: Black Stars name starting XI against Comoros

Black Stars assistant coach John Paintsil has voiced optimism about Ghana’s chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the squad has the experience to make a deep run, potentially reaching the semifinals or even the final.

Ghana will be appearing at the tournament for the fifth time, with the 2026 edition hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

After exiting at the group stage in both the 2014 and 2022 World Cups in Brazil and Qatar, Paintsil believes the team has grown in maturity and is now ready to compete with the world’s elite.

“We have enough experience to be in the semi-finals or final of the 2026 World Cup,” he told 3Sports.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and round off the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

Ahead of the tournament, Ghana will regroup in March for a series of international friendlies, including matches against Austria and Germany, before taking on Mexico in their final preparation for the World Cup.
