Hearts of Oak Ready for 2014/15 Season with Major Squad Overhaul
Accra Hearts of Oak are gearing up for the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League season with renewed ambition and a heavily reinforced squad. The Ghanaian giants have brought in eight new players, including two goalkeepers, three defenders, and three midfielders/forwards, to bolster their ranks ahead of a challenging campaign that includes participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Building a New Core
Assistant coach Stephen Abugri expressed optimism about the blend of new signings and experienced players after a series of preseason friendlies. However, he urged patience from fans as the team seeks cohesion:
“We are building a team, but the project remains to be perfected. It will take time to have a 100% team. We want to lay a solid foundation,” Abugri told the club’s website.
Players to Watch
Abugri highlighted several key names expected to shine this season, including Richard Yamoah, Hamza Mohammed, Seidu Mutawakil, Soulama Abdoulaye, Issa Mumuni, Vincent Atinga, Foovi Aguidi, and Shaun October, suggesting some may soon attract the attention of national team selectors.
