Ibrahim Diabaté attracts Getafe interest after standout GAIS campaign
Getafe have emerged as contenders to sign Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabaté, with the 26-year-old attracting interest after a prolific campaign with Swedish club GAIS.
Diabaté’s future at GAIS is increasingly uncertain as the club considers offers for the forward, who still has a contract running until 2028.
According to Göteborgs-Posten, Getafe are interested in bringing Diabaté back to Spain after his recent spell in La Liga with Deportivo Alavés.
GAIS are already understood to have received two offers for the striker, although the identities of the clubs involved and the amounts proposed have not been revealed.
Diabaté’s performances for GAIS have made him a sought-after player. During the 2025 Allsvenskan season, he scored 18 goals and supplied five assists in 29 appearances, starting 26 of those matches.
His form quickly attracted attention from clubs outside Sweden and eventually led to a move to Spain.
In February, GAIS sent Diabaté to Deportivo Alavés on loan, giving him the opportunity to test himself in La Liga. He made 10 appearances for the Spanish side and scored twice during his time there.
Alavés ultimately decided against exercising its option to make the transfer permanent, meaning Diabaté returned to GAIS.
The striker’s return, however, has not brought clarity to his future. GAIS are actively considering a sale and already have several potential suitors monitoring the Ivorian.
Getafe are now among the clubs showing interest, with the La Liga side potentially offering Diabaté an opportunity to remain in Spain after his previous experience with Alavés.
Other clubs have also been linked with the forward in recent weeks. Servette FC, Erzurumspor and Al Ain are all reported to have expressed an interest in signing him.
GAIS are in a strong negotiating position because of the level of interest in Diabaté and his contract, which does not expire until 2028.
With two proposals already on the table, the Swedish club can assess its options before deciding whether to accept an offer for the striker.
For Diabaté, the possibility of returning to La Liga could provide another opportunity to continue his career in Spain following his short spell with Alavés.
Getafe’s interest has added another potential destination to an increasingly competitive transfer race, but it remains to be seen whether the Spanish club will make a formal offer and whether Diabaté will choose to continue his Spanish adventure.
