Getachew Yabelo: Israel-Ethiopia right-back joins Hapoel Ramat Gan on loan from Maccabi Haifa

Israel-Ethiopia defender Getachew Yabelo has joined Hapoel Ramat Gan on loan from Maccabi Haifa.

The 21-year-old right-back makes the switch within Ligat ha’Al as he seeks regular top-flight minutes after returning to Haifa earlier this summer. The deal is a straight loan transfer, with Yabelo due back at Maccabi Haifa when the agreement ends.

Yabelo, who stands at 1.67m and plays predominantly on the right side of defence, moves to Ramat Gan with his market value currently assessed at around 175,000 following a rapid rise over the past year. His new club compete in the same division as his parent side, offering him a platform to establish himself at senior level in Israels top tier.

The defender progressed through Maccabi Haifas youth system before stepping up from the clubs U19s to the senior squad ahead of the 2025-26 season. Soon after that promotion he was sent on loan to Hapoel Kfar Saba, where he gained first-team experience before returning to Haifa at the end of that campaign.

Hapoel Ramat Gan have now secured Yabelos services for the 2026-27 season, with the agreement registered as a loan transfer from Maccabi Haifa.
