Gervinho Extends AS Roma Contract Amid Salary Boost
Ivory Coast international Gervinho has been rewarded for a strong season at AS Roma by signing a contract extension that includes a significant pay rise. The winger, who scored 12 goals across all competitions last term, will see his annual salary increase from €2.3 million to €2.9 million, with the new deal set to run until 2017.
Initially, Gervinho had demanded a higher wage of €3.5 million per year and reportedly threatened to leave the club if his demands were not met. However, the club and player eventually reached a compromise ahead of AS Roma’s upcoming summer training camp in the United States, where the new contract is expected to be officially signed.
Gervinho joined Roma in 2013 from Arsenal and has since become a key attacking figure for the Serie A side.
