José Mourinho’s Take on Brazil’s Humbling by Germany: A Mentality Issue
Yahoo consultant José Mourinho didn’t hold back in his analysis of Brazil’s shocking 7-1 semi-final defeat to Germany at the 2014 World Cup.
“It’s something that happens sometimes and is difficult to explain,” Mourinho said. “I think the problem was their mentality. They thought a good attitude would be enough to win the World Cup, but it wasn’t. It wasn’t enough. It was enough for the semi-finals, but their opponents were better.”
The Portuguese coach praised Germany’s performance: “The team was incredibly stable and they played with confidence. Everything went well for them. Brazil played defensively; they were very fragile.”
Mourinho suggested Brazil needs a shift in mindset: “We will have to change our philosophy and trust their talents. They have all the players they want, they have dozens of players.”
With this expert insight, Brazil would do well to listen to the “Special One” if they want to bounce back from this historic defeat.
