Karim Guédé, the Slovak midfielder of Togolese descent, has secured two additional seasons in the Bundesliga. Scheduled to reach the end of his contract in June, Guédé has inked a contract extension with SC Freiburg, as announced by the club on Wednesday.
Jochen Saier, the sporting director, emphasized Guédé’s significant contribution to the team’s recent performances, particularly in the last eight Bundesliga matches, which played a crucial role in avoiding relegation. Saier praised Guédé’s physical presence, mentality, and character, highlighting his importance to the squad.
At 29 years old, Guédé joined SC Freiburg in January 2012 from Slovan Bratislava. His new contract binds him to the club until 2016.
