German outfit FC Augsburg have won the race to sign Franco-Congolese midfielder Han-Noah Massengo from Burnley FC this summer.
The 24-year-old has been on the radar of several clubs including French Ligue 1 outfit AJ Auxerre, who were keen on signing the midfielder on a permanent deal following an impressive loan spell.
Massengo, who spent the last six months on loan at Auxerre had previously featured on loan for Bristol City in 2023.
However, Augsburg are set to complete the acquisition of Han-Noah Massengo on permanent deal on a transfer fee worth over €3m following Auxerre’s unsuccessful negotiations.
Auxerre could not meet Burnley’s asking price, leading to the failed acquisition of the Franco-Congolese prospect. Massengo’s presence will be missed as Auxerre look to maintain their Ligue 1 status for a second season in a row.
The midfielder is expected to sign a five-year deal that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until summer 2030.
