Germany-born midfielder of Nigerian descent Felix Nmecha has been ruled out of Borussia Dortmund’s clash against RB Leipzig this weekend.
The two clubs will lock horns on Saturday in a highly anticipated fixture in the 2024/25 German Bundesliga season.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game, Dortmund manager Niko Kovac revealed that Felix Nmecha is injured and will be absent on the matchday.
“It looks good. We have everyone on board who was in Lille. The squad is therefore self-explanatory. Nmecha and Svensson are injured,” Kovac said.
Meanwhile, the coach has disclosed he is happy Carney Chukwuemeka is back from injury.
His is hoping that the Austrian-Nigerian midfielder will be able to stay fit for a longer period.
“Carney has repeatedly had muscular problems, which is why he was out of the squad a few times. When he came in at Lille, he played on the wing. He can play that way, too. He comes from London, hasn’t played much, has few minutes under his belt, and therefore has little strength to go the full 90 minutes. We have to build him up selectively. I would like him to be able to play for a longer period until the end of the season,” the Dortmund coach told the press on Friday.
