German-born defender of Nigerian descent Kevin Akpoguma could be on his way out of TSG Hoffenheim when the January transfer window opens, with signs pointing towards an imminent end to his long association with the club.

Akpoguma has been with Hoffenheim since the summer of 2013, but that chapter now appears to be drawing to a close. Reports suggest there are no plans for a contract extension, despite his current deal running until the summer of 2026.

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, both the 30-year-old centre-back and the club are open to parting ways and have held transparent discussions regarding his future. A move during the winter transfer window is considered a realistic possibility should an acceptable offer arrive.

The defender has struggled for game time this season, making just three short appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign and accumulating only 35 minutes on the pitch, a situation that has further fuelled speculation about a January departure.
