German-born forward Justin Njinmah open to play for Nigeria

Werder Bremen winger Justin Njinmah has signalled his willingness to represent the Super Eagles following renewed approaches from the Nigeria Football Federation.

The 25-year-old attacker, who qualifies to play for Nigeria through his father, described the federation’s interest as encouraging and indicated he would welcome the opportunity to wear the green and white.

Born in Germany, Njinmah remains uncapped at senior or youth level for either country, leaving him eligible to commit his international future to Nigeria or Germany.

His potential switch has been championed by club teammate Felix Agu, who opted to represent Nigeria despite featuring for Germany’s Under-21 side.

After making his Super Eagles debut at the Unity Cup in London last year, Agu playfully urged Njinmah to follow suit, replying “u next!!” to the forward’s social media post.

Njinmah has enjoyed a productive campaign in the Bundesliga, scoring four goals in 17 appearances under head coach Horst Steffen.

Comfortable on either flank or through the middle, his versatility drew interest from Napoli during the January transfer window, but Bremen were determined to keep hold of one of their key attacking options.
