Geovany Quenda nears Sporting return and Chelsea move

Geovany Quenda has travelled back to Portugal after spending several months at Cobham, where he completed his rehabilitation from a serious foot injury.

The 18-year-old winger, who underwent surgery following a setback in December 2025, used Chelsea’s state-of-the-art facilities to work his way through a carefully managed recovery program.

The highly rated youngster is already tied to a £40 million transfer to Chelsea and is expected to join the first-team group at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season. His time in England has allowed him to get an early taste of the environment he will step into permanently in the summer.

For now, Quenda’s focus is firmly back on Sporting CP. Having returned to Portugal, he is pushing to regain full match fitness in time to be in contention for Sporting’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Arsenal.

If everything goes according to plan in the coming days, Sporting could welcome a fresh attacking option just as their European campaign reaches a decisive stage, while Chelsea look on with interest at a future signing getting closer to his long-awaited comeback.
